One more admin process and workflow is to ‘update SCAP tools’ on servers.\u00a0 Many times overlooked, this can save many headaches with the newest version installed on servers.<\/p>\n

Check the website\u00a0<\/a> here, to search for Win in SCAP tools, then download & Install<\/p>\n

Navigation steps:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features<\/p>\n

In the search bar (top right) enter scap (and hit enter)<\/p>\n

Extract files from ZIP<\/span><\/p>\n

Copy folder to repository (my path example below)<\/span><\/p>\n

Save SCAP zip and files to folder repository and on server to install SCAP on.<\/p>\n

Run SCAP application<\/span><\/h4>\n

Take the defaults (unless you want the checker icon on desktop).\u00a0 <\/span>Run SCAP application from PowerShell (as admin) window.<\/span><\/p>\n

Open PowerShell as admin window<\/span><\/p>\n

cd “D:\\MonAdmin\\STIGS\\scc-5.7.2_Windows”; gci; .\\SCC_5.7.2_Windows_Setup.exe<\/span><\/p>\n

Hit enter to begin install<\/span><\/p>\n

On the SCAP EULA radio button application install screen, click ‘I accept’ radio button and click Next.<\/p>\n

Select Destination location (preferably on non-system disk), and click Next<\/p>\n

From the ‘Select Components’ window, click Next<\/p>\n

Click Install on ‘Ready to install’ popup screen<\/p>\n

With the new SCAP tool Install window, click Finish to complete.<\/p>\n

Refresh Control Panel SCAP search<\/span><\/h4>\n

Remove old versions<\/span><\/p>\n

Click Continue and go through removal prompts<\/span><\/p>\n

With the Uninstall screen, click Yes to uninstall.<\/span><\/p>\n

Recheck Windows Explorer for OpenSSL; look at file properties for version details.\u00a0\u00a0Interesting, NONE of these files have versions (openssl, x509 searches show nothing file version wise)<\/p>\n
